Since she was just five years old, Merci has always had a pencil in hand, often found drawing from her imagination or the world around her, capturing faces, trees, water scenes, and animals. Her teachers admired her delicate drawing style and encouraged her artistic talent throughout her schooling. Born and raised in, Iran, Merci initially pursued a degree in finance, graduating with a BS in Accounting from Tehran University. In 1980, she moved to California, where she continued her education and found fulfillment in the analytical world of numbers while building a beautiful family under the California sun. Every morning, no matter the season, she can be found by the ocean, soaking up the light that inspires her paintings. Over the years, she has taken art classes from various institutions and inspiring artists, allowing her to hone her skills and develop her eye for painting and drawing.

Painting is still her favorite discipline, and oil on canvas her favorite media.  The creativity and possibilities that exist within the medium fuel her passion for painting and light her paintings with the warm glow of the love put into them.
